There are so many things that go into planning for your wedding. Staying organized is key to help your preparation, planning and your special day go as smooth as possible. We has put together a wedding checklist that covers everything you need to be thinking about for the year leading up to your wedding. The checklist is itemized by key monthly, weekly, and daily goals to help make your wedding planning less stressful.

10 - 12 Months Before

  • Introduce both families and officially announce your engagement
  • Find out who will be paying for what and start a budget
  • Create a guestlist
  • Compare calendars and select a date
  • Choose your wedding attendants
  • Create a wedding website to share your engagement
  • Consider whitening your teeth for engagement pictures and parties
  • Conduct interviews and hire a wedding cordinator if applicable
  • Decide if you want pre-marital counseling
  • Start looking at wedding dress photots for inspiration
  • Send your engagement picture to local papers
  • Begin thinking of where you want to honeymoon
  • Visit and book your reception site
  • Visit and book your ceremony location, including the rehearsal time
  • Create a Save-The-Date list

6 - 9 Months Before

  • Alert out-of-town guests of wedding date by sending your Save-The-Dates
  • Visit Sandarella's Bridal Shop and begin trying on wedding dresses and veils
  • Get ideas for honeymoon locations and research prices
  • Start looking at floral designs and interview florists for style and cost
  • Search for menu ideas and start meeting with caterers
  • Research wedding photographers and videographers and set up interviews
  • Get ideas for music and interview bands or DJs
  • Finalize flower and decor ideas and select a florist
  • Sign a caterer
  • Order your gown and veil from Sandarella's
  • Shop for and select your bridesmaid dresses
  • Book your honeymoon
  • Book your photographer and music
  • Shop Sandarella's and purchase your wedding accessories, shoes, linegere, purse and gloves
  • Choose your wedding officiant and discuss ceremony ideas
  • Sign up with a gift registry
  • Select hotels for out-of-town guests and reserve rooms

4 - 5 Months Before

  • Start thinking about wedding traditions
  • View wedding invitation styles and research proper wording
  • Look at wedding cake designs and meet bakers to taste samples
  • Discuss menu ideas with catering manager
  • Shop for wedding rings
  • Look for grooms tuxedo and decide what groomsmen will wear
  • Confirm your bridesmaids ordered their gowns
  • Decide on accessories
  • Have your mother and mother-in-law coordinate and select their dresses
  • Place your wedding invitation order
  • Purchase your wedding rings and send for engraving
  • Get ideas for wedding favors
  • Confirm dates for bridal shower and bachelorette parties
  • Make sure you started your registries before sending out shower invites
  • Finalize your cake order
  • Reserve rental equipment (chairs, tables, liners, tents, etc.)
  • Book your rehearsal dinner location
  • Start getting ideas for wedding hair and makeup
  • Notify family and friends who you would like to give readings

2 - 3 Months Before

  • Finalize guest list and submit invitations to calligrapher
  • Book makeup artist and hairstylist
  • Order your wedding favors
  • Start browsing and purchasing your wedding accessories
  • Consider dance classes
  • Schedule your last tasting and finalize menu
  • Find gifts for each other, your attendence, shower hostess, and parents
  • Confirm tuxedos have been ordered for groom and groomsmen
  • Prep for your honeymoon
  • Choose your getaway and finalize wedding transportation if necessary
  • Look into bank accounts, insurance and merging your money if needed
  • Select your music for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception
  • Check on your registry and wedding website
  • Mail invitations 8 weeks before your wedding day
  • Finalize rehearsal dinner plans and order rehearsal invites, menus, table numbers, and any other stationary needs

1 - 2 Months Before

  • Have your first bridal gown fitting, bring stockings, shoes, bra, a camera and your mom/friends
  • Finalize ceremony readings and songs and a review with performers
  • Order liqour and beverages not handlesd by caterer
  • Meet with your officiant to finalize the ceremony, including attendant formations
  • Begin writing your vows if applicable
  • Begin writing thank-you notes for bridal shower and early wedding gifts
  • Find out where to get your marriage license
  • Prepare a photo and video shot list naming important family members and guests
  • Schedule a bridesmaid' luncheon and buy attendant gifts if you haven't already
  • Begin whitening your teeth for wedding day

3 - 4 Weeks Before

  • Finalize your jewlery (something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue)
  • Prepare a must-have photo shot list for the photographer
  • Finalize your must-have and don't play music list for the DJ/Band
  • Practice your first dance in your wedding shoes
  • Order your wedding proframs if you haven't already
  • Confirm honeymoon and travel arrangements
  • Call guests who haven't RSVP'd
  • Pick up your wedding rings and check them to make sure they're right
  • Get your marriage license, no earlier than 30 days before the wedding
  • Research how to change your last name
  • Mail your rehearsal dinner invitations
  • Purchase small candles, candies, and mints for guest washrooms
  • Meet with your hairstylist and test the perfect hair and makeup

Day Before

  • Prepare a list of payment envelopes
  • Hand out assignment lists and checklist to ensure people know what their tasks are
  • Gather together your wedding dress, accessories, and bridal emergency kit
  • Get a manicure, pedicure and massage
  • Rehearse ceremony with officiant and wedding party

Wedding Day

  • Your big day has arrived!
  • You may be nervous but try to eat breakfast and drink plenty of fluids
  • Take a lavendar bath - it's very relaxing
  • Be sure to wear a button down shirt for your hair and makeup appointments
  • HAVE FUN!
